Recommended vaccinations for all equines who are under one year of age.
- Strangles may be administered at 10-12 months
- EWT (Eastern & Western Encephalitis, and Tetanus) and WNV (West Nile Virus)
3-dose series:- 1st dose at 4-6 months of age
- 2nd dose 4 – 6 weeks after 1st dose
- 3rd dose at 10 – 12 months of age
- Rabies vaccination at 10-12 months of age
- Flu (Influenza) and EHV (Equine Herpes Virus – Rhino)
3-dose series:- 1st dose at 4-6 months of age
- 2nd dose 4 – 6 weeks after 1st dose
- 3rd dose at 10 – 12 months of age
Vaccinations for Foals were developed by the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Infectious Disease Committee. These guidelines and charts were reviewed and updated by the committee & Vaccination Guidelines Subcommittee and approved by the Board of Directors in 2023.
